8-year-old boy with autism learning his ABC'S

autistic boy on computer, augmented communication
Max using his augmented communication.

Here are three videos of my son, Max, learning to say the alphabet. He is practicing how to say his letters, how to spell a few words, and how to say "I love you." By using videos on YouTube, especially videos that include sign language and music, Max is learning new sounds and letters everyday.

Since starting on Risperdal about a month ago, Max has been learning new sounds everyday. The quality of his babbling and intonation is completely changed. He repeats everything we say, even if you can't understand him! This has been so exciting to watch... and we're hopeful that he will continue gaining new words everyday. In the next video, Max is playing on YouTube on the computer. He is listening to nursery rhymes and singing along with them.

That's all for now. We're all fighting strep throat in my house, so I promise to write a longer post very soon! Peace and love to all!
